Origins of Our Loose Leaf Black Tea
Black tea is made from the same plant as all other real teas–Camellia sinensis. Our loose tea is sourced from the most important tea-producing countries (China, India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya) and some of the oldest tea plantations in the world.
Black tea is a fully oxidized tea type. During oxidation tea leaves change the color, flavor, and chemical composition, offering a whole set of health benefits. Black tea contains theaflavins, thearubigins, catechins, caffeine, L-theanine and vitamins. It may help boost the immune system, fight against free radicals, help with high blood sugar, cholesterol and blood pressure and provide anticancer, antiviral and anti-inflammatory activity. Black tea usually contains more caffeine than green tea, but much less than a cup of coffee.
Popular Premium Black Teas
Not all black teas are the same. From the bold and malty Assam, floral and light Darjeeling, creamy and rich Ceylon teas, to intense naturally smoked Lapsang Souchong or naturally flavored fruit teas, there is a perfect black tea for every occasion.

Tips for Preparing Loose Leaf Black Tea
Black tea is the easiest type of tea to brew. Bring fresh spring water to a boil and let it cool down for a few seconds. Although you can brew black tea with boiling water, by allowing it to cool down hard water particles will settle on the bottom and give a clear liquor and better flavor. You can brew all black teas with nearly boiling water except Darjeeling black tea. If the dry leaves look more greenish and grey than brown and black, use slightly cooler water.
Preheat your teapot or a mug by pouring boiled water in and out. Measure one to teaspoons of your favorite black tea leaves. Place the tea leaves into a teapot or use an infuser and steep for 2-5 minutes. Strain. Drink the tea while still hot. You can re-steep the same black tea leaves until the flavor is gone, usually 2-3 times.
