Prickly Pears are fruits of a cactus tree native to Central America. Today, they can be found in many countries, especially in the Mediterranean region – same as hibiscus flowers.
Prickly Pear cactus grows in areas with hot and dry summers and mild winters. Our Prickly Pear Herbal blend is made from dried prickly pear fruit pieces grown in the United States.
Prickly Pear Herbal tea is blended with hibiscus flowers, rose hips, chicory root, chamomile flowers, dried wild crafted prickly pear fruit pieces and infused with an all natural prickly pear flavor.
Prickly Pear fruits can have a deep purple, green, red-orange or yellow color. With a juicy, mouth watering flavor, they are perfect for making salads, desserts, drinks, and even soups. Prickly pear consists of mostly water and is usually eaten raw. It has a sweet, juicy, sometimes slightly sour and spicy flavor.
Herbal teas are infusions made with pure or blended herbs, spices, flowers and fruits. Unlike real loose leaf teas (teas made from Camellia sinensis) they are usually caffeine free. Most herbal teas can be brewed with boiling water or nearly boiling water, like most black teas, which makes brewing very easy.
Simple Loose Leaf is a small, family operation of three siblings (Andrew, Nicholas and Sarah) dedicated to enriching our customers’ lives through a passionate discovery of new tea flavors and blends. The many nuances of tea drinking rival the great wines of history, and we’re right at the beginning of a tea revolution here in the United States. We hope you enjoy your next cup!
